A six-voice drum synthesizer
For rhythms that keep changing. Shape each sound, program the pattern, then add chance, timing drift and rolls. Keep a steady pulse underneath, or let the whole kit wander.

Six drum voices with good manners and bad habits.

Devine Disorder

The song

Polite Disorder is a drum machine with manners on top and disorder underneath. Its six voices, BODY, SNAP, METAL, GRAIN, TONE and AIR, keep to the grid while chance, drift, rolls and odd ratios pull at it, so a pattern stays alive bar after bar. Synthesis, samples and effects work together in real time. Six voices, no fixed behaviour. Please tamper.
It is made by CS/M, Complex State Machines: instruments with a calm surface and something restless underneath.
Use Polite Disorder as an AUv3 instrument in music apps such as GarageBand. Patterns follow the host’s tempo and transport. Trigger the six voices with MIDI notes from C1 (note 36) up, or play them melodically in Notes mode, one voice on each of channels 2 to 7. Hosts that support multiple outputs can receive each voice separately.
Installed, it collects nothing and needs no account and no connection.
